This Week

Saw quite a few caravans and motor homes on the road yesterday and recently 123 spent a weekend in Proserpine for the Whitsunday Coast Wanderers motor home rally. Besides being good for business, the club raised over $2000 and are now donating over half to charities Royal Flying Doctor, Prossie Kindy, Meals on Wheels and RACQ CQ Rescue. Good event -- now annual.

 

Today is the last day to get a substantial discount when you register your dog. Besides the discount, you could win a trip to the reef and your dog could win 20kgs of dog tucker and a hydro bath. Contact the council ranger – pronto!

 

Anglican Church fete this Saturday 11 am – 2.30 with stalls selling all the nice things you expect at a lovely church fete – Proserpine Citizens Band, little kids big band, and a cent sale – on this Saturday 11 am – 2.30 at the Entertainment Centre.

 

Jolly Roger Poker Run this Saturday starts 9.30 at the Proserpine showgrounds.

 

Next week is Family History Week and the Whitsunday Family History Group is inviting the community to visit their research area at the Proserpine Community Centre. It is also the groups 21st birthday. Call the centre for times.

Triathlon and Tree Day

Whitsunday PCYC is joining all PCYC in the region in celebrating PCYC Week and 60 years of PCYC in Queensland. Free day this Saturday at the Club with plenty of activities and free memberships to those who have never been members.

                 

Whitsunday Triathlon Club – Broadwater Avenue will be closed between 8.30 and 9.30 Saturday morning for a Junior Triathlon.

 

National Tree Day postponed. Whitsunday Catchment Landcare would like to advise that the tree planting event scheduled for this Sunday has been postponed due to site access problems resulting from heavy rain. The event has been rescheduled for Sunday August the 10th.

 

Proserpine Chamber of Commerce is calling for suggestions on ways to improve the town. Send to Box 551 Proserpine or call Chamber president Peter Lewis.

Annual "Run (or Walk) for a Cure" - a fundraiser for The Cancer Council Queensland

Commences 9 am at the Foreshore Park Airlie Beach, near the Sailing Club (where the Saturday markets are held)

Distances Walk or Run the 2.5km or 5km; or Run the 10km

Open to all ages and abilities - bring the family or form a business team

Follows the Bicentennial Walkway

Registration from 7am to 8.30 am - Sunday 20 July - $10 for individuals, $20 family, and $5 student under 13
