Hi Everyone
It has been a few weeks since I last emailed and a lot has happened in that time. One big thing happened for me personally and that was my sister-in-law lost her battle to cancer. At only 48, it was incredibly hard to watch but a relief when it was over for her. Cancer is such a terrible disease and we need to help find ways to prevent it. For this reason both Stephen and I are participating again in Relay for Life. This year it will be help in Proserpine on 27th to 28th April. If you would like to donate to this great cause please click the link below.

Easter looked to be very busy, with lots of accommodation places booked out and cruise ships coming in every day. I would like to congratulate Probuild over the Easter break. The main street may be in a mess, but Probuild had both footpaths open all the way along the street for the busy weekend making it easy for the tourists to get around.
Other big pieces of news have been
· The Shute Harbour Marina has new developers backing it and their concept was released to the public

· Woolworths cleared the car park in town to start their development plus main street update

· Port of Airlie completing $11.6M in sales in 12 Weeks

Combine these with the sale of Abel Point Marina and the start of the golf estate Regatta Waters, it would appear that the bigger money players are coming back into our market place. Whether you agree with these projects or not, they show confidence in our market and give employment to many people over time. This then promotes housing, both owner and rentals, as well as spending in our shops, which helps boost our economy. There is definitely more confidence in our area then we have seen over the past 3-4 years.
To help our still deflated unit market, Harcourt's are holding an Auction with a difference on Sunday 19th May. We have designed a marketing campaign to promote our units to the greater Queensland investors. By featuring approximately 15 -20 units, we have negotiated deals with Courier Mail, Gladstone and the Whitsundays.
To offer our unit owners a way of selling their property by utilising a competitive marketing campaign with a huge amount of exposure. The auction will be held on a Sunday, so investors can come up for the weekend and catch the Sunday afternoon plane back to Brisbane. Ben Brady, Harcourt's corporate auctioneer and Queensland's number one auctioneer, along with Ben Chick, Queensland number one sales person, will be joining us to support and assist.
If you would like to know more on this Auction Campaign email me for more details on Sharon.dewsbury@harcourts.com.au
