July 14, Whitsunday Catchment Landcare meeting

Please find attached the agenda for our next meeting on:

Tuesday the 14th July at 7.00 p.m.

Cannonvale Neighbourhood Centre (Hazelwood Cr - turn right at the lights at Coles shopping centre and turn right off the round-about, follow to the end).

Along with the usual updates and chance for discussion, I will be presenting the recently completed Whitsunday Wildlife Corridor Mapping Project.

As always, our meetings are open to the public, so feel free to bring along a guest and enjoy a chat over a tea, coffee etc. around start time.

July 7, NAIDOC Week celebration.

Naidoc Celebration at the Whitsunday Neighbourhood Centre

'Honouring our elders, nurturing our youth' is the theme for this years NAIDOC Week celebration.

 

The Whitsunday Neighbourhood Centre along with the Queensland Government Agency in Cannonvale will be holding a Naidoc (National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee) celebration on Tuesday the 7th July at the Whitsunday Neighbourhood Centre between 11am and 2pm.

 

ATSICHS Mackay will be in attendance with information on hand about their outreach services that they can provide to the indigenous community of the Whitsundays. There will be a welcome to the country speech provided a local elder along with a flag raising ceremony.

 

Interactive didgeridoo performances and dot painting activities are going to be provided along with a free sausage sizzle, emu and crocodile meat samples
