Activities this week - Whitsunday Catchment Landcare

Hello WCL List

After some recommendations by volunteers it has been decided to run 2 events next Thursday.

The tree planting at Galbraith Creek, advertised in the WCL newsletter, will commence at 6 am rather than 9 am. That's not a typo - just a really early start to avoid the heat; and allow people to volunteer before work!.

For those who do not wish to participate in tree planting, but still wish to volunteer on the day, there will be plant propagation activities at the Community Nursery starting at 9.

Thursday 24 January

6 am to 8 am

Galbraith Creek, via Galbraith Park Drive (on the left)

Tree planting

Area already mulched, tools supplied.

Please notify us your interest in attending the early morning tree planting.

 9 am to 12 noon

Community Nursery, 33 Kelsey Creek Road

Plant propagation – sowing local native seeds, potting plants on etc.

For all of our volunteer activities please wear closed in shoes, sun protective clothing and bring plenty of drinking water.

regards

Airlie Update

Hi Everyone

Well we are already two weeks into the New Year and it is very busy. There was no quite time over the New Year period this year. Buyer enquiry started strong on the 31st Dec and has been very steady every day. Great news for our area. We don't have an update yet for the main street, but they are back in action and the top part by the roundabout is just about finished. Word has it that Woolworths is now expected to start next month (depending on the rain) and with the $200million dollar Reno job starting shortly on Lindeman Island, and the price and demand for iron ore up again, things are looking positive all round.

Please find below quick links to what is happening in our area.

Boot Sale Markets at Carbon Store Community Centre

Looking forward to our first Market for the year, attached is the promo brochure.

Now that it's 2013, boy am I keen!!!

 I'm keen to get a few Buskers at the markets;

I'm sure you'd know a couple of performers that would be keen to entertain the public.

Maybe someone that does animal tricks, balloon twisting, card tricks, clowning around, fire eating, fortune telling, maybe a living statue(I've always wanted to attempt this one, but I'm sure I'd break into giggle all the time), or my favourite "the Spoken Word' poetry, storytelling, sketching, painting, sword swallowing?? or maybe fiddling!! bag pipes.
