Easter Regatta and Tasar State Titles at the Whitsunday Sailing Club
With less than four weeks to go until the Easter Regatta and Tasar State Titles at the Whitsunday Sailing Club, we are swinging in to the final preparations stage.
If you have already let us know of your intent to join us by email or phone, thank you, however if you could visit www.easterregatta.com.au, and complete the online forms, this will help us assure we have your bookings for sailing, camping and dining.
If you haven't already let us know, if you could do so, it will make our job easier and your regatta and stay smoother.
So far we have 42 boats with registered interest, including 16 Tasars, 8 Lasers and a mix of others including 505's, sharpies and even an 18 foot skiff, so we are looking like we will have a great turn out for the regatta.
By registering on the website, you will automatically receive updates as we put new information on to the site, so you won't miss any of the critical details.
The Whitsunday Sailing Club is on the hunt for two entry level Tasars to add to our fleet, so if you have a boat that is in fair condition that is surplus to your needs, please let us know.
I hope that you can all make it to the regatta, and we look forward to seeing you there.
Regards
Terry Archer

New Queensland fishing rules apply from this week
Significant changes to regulations affecting commercial and recreational
fishers throughout Queensland came into effect this week.
The changes include new bag and size limits for popular species like bream,
whiting, tailor, and flathead.
The changed size, take and possession limits for both fresh and tidal waters
are effective from March 1.
Anglers do not require a licence to fish recreationally in Queensland,
except if fishing in some stocked impoundments such as at Peter Faust Dam.
The 2009 coral reef fin fish closures, scheduled for later in the year are
under currently under review.

P&O Arcadia memories
Item last week brought some memories sparked by the fourth P&O Arcadia, the
largest P&O Cruises ship ever to visit Australia as part of her debut world
cruise.
Thousands immigrated to Australia on P&O Cruises' second Arcadia as
'ten-pound Poms' in the 1950s and '60s.
A mate, Meecham Philpot 4MK Radio presenter told Waterfront that his mom and
dad met onboard the second Arcadia in the early 1960s.
"And last week we were at lunch in Brisbane while Arcadia was alongside"
Meech added.
There have been several other memories related, do you have one?

Proserpine Whitsunday Swap Meet and Markets Saturday April 18
The Annual Proserpine Whitsunday Swap Meet and Markets which is being run by the Freemasons of Proserpine every year is on again on Saturday 18th April at the Proserpine Showgrounds with gates opening from 6 am.
Everyone is welcome to attend whether it be participating in having a stall & selling unwanted goods or market produce or just wanting to pick up a great bargain.
For people who have not attended a swap meet before, it is simply very easy to explain. It is very similar to a flea market but it has more variety of stalls ranging from antiques, collectables, ( farm & industrial ) tools, machinery etc as well as your regular clothing & jewellery stalls.
It is also very good for someone who has an upcoming garage sale. This might be a better time to have it with a larger volume of people attending this event rather than having people come to your own home.
For those with families their will be something for everyone with vintage cars & stationery engine displays, cosmetic, clothing and jewellery displays and face painting for the children. Their will also be a canteen and bar open all day and evening entertainment.
So if you would like to just come along and have a look on the day all it is going to cost you is a gold coin gateway donation with these proceeds being donated to local charities.
Or if you want more information on wanting to have a stall and to book a site you can contact Wayne on 49471024 or Bill on 49471542.
