April 7, Airlie Beach Main Street design workshop

Tuesday April 7, Whitsunday Sports and Entertainment Centre, Airlie Sportspark

Two hour workshops at 1pm & 6pm

Al members of our community are invited to attend a two-hour workshop.

These plans include design and uses for the lagoon carpark, Airlie Creek, the foreshore AND changes to traffic flow and intersection treatments.

Residents Traffic Action urges all interested members of our community to attend these workshops so that your views and aspirations for our unique tropical tourist village can be addressed.

FYI: WHITSUNDAY WAY: Project Advisory Committee (PAC): Although it has been a very slow and tedious process, RTA are members of this Main Roads committee representing expressed community views and will be attending the 1pm Airlie Main Street design workshop after the PAC meeting earlier on Tuesday. Main Roads and the government have endorsed both the name Whitsunday Way and the vision statement as distributed around our community. The Beach Road roundabout is due to commence construction later this year and we're told that the next roundabout will be at the Tropic Road intersection. RTA and other community PAC members will continue working to ensure that the Whitsunday Way vision becomes a reality.

 Cheers,

 Faye Chapman

Concept Tiles Easter Regatta. 2009 Queensland Tasar State Titles News

With just under two weeks until the Easter off-beach regatta, things are really heating up.

So far we have taken over fifty confirmed entries with many entrants choosing to camp free of charge on the Whitsunday Sailing Club grounds.

Official Easter Regatta Website - Several weeks ago we launched our official website, packed with information about the regatta.

By registering on the website, you can be kept up to date on the latest news as it breaks. Sailors may also register their entries and camping reservations online via our contact page.

Check out the official Easter regatta website at www.easterregatta.com.au.

Queensland Tasar State Titles
Currently we have 17 confirmed entries to the 2009 Queensland Tasar State Titles, which we are hosting in conjunction with the Easter Regatta. We'd love to see even more Tasars - especially from the southern parts of Queensland.

If you know of any Tasar sailors then please let them know about the State titles this Easter and tell them to get cracking and get their entries in.

See www.easterregatta.com.au/about/tasars for more information.

Up to 60 boats already entered
We're thrilled to have as many as 60 boats coming (including 51 confirmed entries and 9 tentative entries).

There are a great variety of entries, including two Sharpies, two 505's, many Lasers, Tasars, a variety of multihulls and even a couple of Moths.

We'd love to see even more company for some of our more unusual classes - we know the Moth guys in particular would love to get enough boats together to hold their own division. So if you're considering entering, why not see who else is already attending and come and give them someone else to race against.

See what sort of boats are coming to the regatta at www.easterregatta.com.au/about/attendance

X3 dinghies available for hire
If you have children in your family who sail, but the logistics of getting another boat to the Easter regatta is a challenge then you may be happy to learn that we have a number of X3 dinghies available for use in the regatta at a modest rental rate.

Our X3s are available with either a Fun rig, or the smaller Educational rig.

For more information on hiring one of our X3s, please contact Terry Archer by phone (0413 839 119) or make an enquiry online at www.easterregatta.com.au/contact

To learn more about the X3 dinghy, check out the manufacturer's website at www.sailextreme.com

Tasar available for hire
We have one Tasar available for charter for the duration of the regatta. For a modest fee of $205 (which includes the $55 entry fee), you could be on the water this Easter racing in the Tasar State Titles.

We're sure this will appeal to those of you pressed for time over Easter (why not catch a flight to Airlie Beach and have a boat ready waiting for you?).

Alternatively if don't currently own a Tasar, take this chance to get into the State Titles!

For more information, please contact Terry Archer by phone (0413 839 119) or make an enquiry online at www.easterregatta.com.au/contact

FREE camping still available
Camping on the Whitsunday Sailing Club grounds, on the waterfront in the heart of Airlie Beach is available FREE for regatta entrants and their families.

With over 25 campsites already booked on our waterfront location, we're filling fast - but there is still space available.

For more information, see our where to stay page at www.easterregatta.com.au/about/accomodation.
